Respiratory Protection
Some jobs performed at UCF includes a potential or actual exposure to air contaminants. To safely perform those jobs, the use of respiratory protection is required when other preferred control methods are not feasible. The UCF Respiratory Protection Program requires every staff to be trained, obtain a doctor’s clearance, and pass a fit-test before being assigned to use any respirator.
The Department of Environmental Health and Safety is available to conduct a Job Safety Analysis to determine if a specific job requires the use of respiratory protection, recommend the type of respirator to be used and to coordinate training, medical evaluation, and fit-test.
