NIH Guidelines
The NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules were updated on March 2013 to include both recombinant and synthetic techniques. All research protocols involving:
- Recombinant nucleic acid molecules,
- Synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including those that are chemically or otherwise modified but can base pair with naturally occurring nucleic acid molecules,
- And cells, organisms, and viruses containing such molecules must be registered with and approved by the UCF Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
