NIH Guidelines

The NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules were updated on March 2013 to include both recombinant and synthetic techniques. All research protocols involving:

  1. Recombinant nucleic acid molecules,
  2. Synthetic nucleic acid molecules, including those that are chemically or otherwise modified but can base pair with naturally occurring nucleic acid molecules,
  3. And cells, organisms, and viruses containing such molecules must be registered with and approved by the UCF Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC).
