The University of Central Florida’s Scientific Diving Program was established in 2020. We oversee and support underwater research for students, faculty, and staff. While most dive-related research opportunities are focused in Florida, our supported research extends to the Caribbean, Eastern Pacific, and across the Indo-Pacific.

A key function of the program is to provide scientific diver training for members of the UCF community. The training follows the guidelines set by the American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS). Authorization to dive within the program requires a minimum of 100 hours of cumulative training. Visiting divers must be affiliated with another AAUS Organizational Member. For questions, please contact the Dive Safety Officer, Dr. Michelle Gaither at michelle.gaither@ucf.edu.
