Fire Safety

Beginning Aug. 8, UCF will be responsible for its own Construction fire inspections and plan reviews to ensure buildings are meeting fire codes. This shift in who conducts the inspections and reviews is expected to help speed up plan reviews and inspections.

In the past, the State Fire Marshal’s office has been responsible for these activities. Environmental Health and Safety has hired Certified Fire Safety inspectors who is based at UCF to help improve efficiency. The Fire Safety inspector is Anthony Russell. He will work with Roy Johnston, the University Building Official, to continuously improve Safety Standards and customer service levels as demonstrated by the recent Permit Technician Accreditation attained by both Ning Li and Stephanie Coleman through the International Code Council.  They will continue to work in partnership with the State Fire Marshal’s Office to ensure UCF meets all required codes and keeps our community safe.

Annual Inspections will still be handled by The State Fire Marshal’s office.

Those needing a Construction Fire inspection or who need to have plans reviewed should contact the EHS Building Department at (407) 823-5323. For more information about EHS visit the website:
