Indoor Air Quality

Indoor air quality can affect building occupant’s health, comfort, productivity, and performance. The Department of Environmental Health and Safety conducts assessments to identify conditions or factors that can affect air quality. Findings and recommendations are reported to the proper maintenance groups for corrective actions. Some of the common parameters evaluated are temperature, percentage of relative humidity, fine particulate matter, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The assessment also includes a thorough visual inspection of the interior of the structure (area of concern), building envelope issues, the internal components of the HVAC unit servicing this specific area, and the mechanical room.
